BARNEGAT TOWNSHIP — The Cecil S. Collins School is closed until further notice while school district officials address mold contamination in the building.
Superintendent Karen M. Wood said several classrooms tested positive for mold last Thursday.
Wood said the district received preliminary test results Friday that indicated mold concentrations exceeded healthy levels for students and staff.
Wood said the report — which will be released to the public Monday — determined that airborne concentrations of mold were elevated inside the school.
The mold problem is being blamed on heavy summer rainfall and damp conditions.
